Disrupt Your Routine

doors-1767563_960_720

I work for a CPA firm. CPAs are an interesting breed as they detest any type of change. I am surprised they even do electronic returns. Though, thinking back, it was resisted with much venom until electronic returns were mandated. Still, they found a way around it.

I digress.

Disruption is often suspicious when it comes to the daily to and fro of our lives – the lives of our children and pets for sure – because in routine is where comfort lies. But nothing grows without resistance and disruption. Disruption gets a bad rap because it’s inserted in statements like, “Joey, stop disrupting the class.” or “You’re disrupting the baby’s naptime.”

But, what about when we disrupt our own routines? Like, maybe you always write at the kitchen table, or walk down the same street after dinner or have the same freaking coffee (half-caff, venti with skim milk, and six Splenda) at the same coffee shop every single effing day. What does coffee with six Splenda taste like, anyway? What if you change it up? What would that look like?

It really is when we forced into change that it has the most profound effect. For me, change can be fun when I want to do it; other times, it sucks. When it sucks is when I make the most changes.

I always write the same stuff: poetry, memoirs, dramas. But what if I just throw my papers in the wind and say: Hey, why don’t I try to write a horror story? Or maybe a romance? I mean, I wrote a super creepy story about a misfit and a bag of money and it turned out pretty decent.

So… why don’t we give it a shot?

Let’s try it: I want whoever is reading this to write a blog post outside your comfort zone. If you write scary stuff? Try romance. Are you a poet? Write a short story about something. Horror writer? Write a short sappy something. Put your link in the comments here and I’ll check them out… and hopefully, other commenters will check out some links, too.

So, write something you’d never think to write, post to your blog, link in the comments.

🙂

Update on my novel: it is with a real live editor! Yes… and then I get it back and make the changes and then… submit! Woohoo! I am so excited about this story.

Think it. Believe it.

Premonition row

A bright and lonely threshold

Stepping through the light

Bend to the righteous

Identical assumptions

I can see through you

Wonders of Wonder

stonehenge-1938549_960_720.jpg

…The Seven Wonders of the World and I am pretty sure Stonehenge isn’t one of the original wonders. Go figure. I was looking for an article on Seven Wonders because I, like many people, get confused about it. I know maybe three of them off the top of my head.

The classic seven wonders are:

  • Colossus of Rhodes.
  • Great Pyramid of Giza.
  • Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
  • Lighthouse of Alexandria.
  • Mausoleum at Halicarnassus.
  • Statue of Zeus at Olympia.
  • Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.

The new seven wonders are:

  • Chichen Itza, Mexico – Mayan City.
  • Christ Redeemer, Brazil – Large Statue.
  • The Great Wall, China.
  • Machu Picchu, Peru.
  • Petra, Jordan – Ancient City.
  • The Roman Colosseum, Italy.
  • The Taj Mahal, India.

So what’s up with Stonehenge not being on either list? Who the hell knows. My point here is that you don’t need to be told you are a wonder to be a damn wonder. I am awed by Stonehenge – manmade, alien made, or goat made – I don’t care who made it. Stonehenge IS a wonder. How the hell did they get those stones like that and plus… plus, the whole place is perfectly aligned with the summer and winter solstices (give or take a degree).

My husband and I watch a lot of Ancient Aliens where there is speculation that this wonder (and other official wonders) were made by extraterrestrials. And is that really so far-fetched? It could be entirely possible that there are other beings in the universe or the age-old theory that we… are the aliens.

I wonder…

Back to Stonehenge. It exists. Someone made it. It isn’t a natural wonder like the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, or the Northern Lights but Stonehenge is really there and even more inspiring is that someone went to great trouble to think it out and create it. And they thought this up thousands of years ago! Another man-made wonder is the pyramids (again, alien speculation, but I digress).

Take that idea in your head and sketch it out.

Get out there and create your life. Use your experiences as lessons and fuel for the fire of accomplishment that burns inside you. Don’t sit idly by as the days turn to weeks to months to years. Get out there and do something with yourself. Shuck that fear off and build your Stonehenge. ❤

Blessed Be.

Uncompromising

squirrel-2116751_960_720

Remain ever fearless

Uncompromising in your quest

For absolution

For salvation

Despite devotion and support from others

Understand that only you can count on you

You are your foundation

You are your blanket

You just are

And you are stunning.

Branch Out

tree-3199003_960_720

Branch out into the dark

Don’t forget your bleeding heart

Blanket the past with deception

Beat back truths with despondent dejection

All that time you wasted then

Plastered inside your plastic grin

Today is tomorrow’s yesterday

What then will you beg to say?

If only, if when, if you, if why

How can you care when you didn’t try

Step back into your simple darkness

You’re gonna feel it regardless

Rise Above

travel-1756149_960_720

Rise above.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

You are all you have when it all crashes down.

So, build a reliable foundation.

Sometimes you don’t get that second chance.

Seize the moment.

You can do it.

This is everything I am telling myself since January 1, 2018. I have been through so much up until this point… if I give up now, it was all for naught!

And you can do it, too! Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. Use that negativity to fuel your motivation. People who are stuck and failing generally dislike watching people succeed or making progress. Don’t let it deter you from your goal.

Keep going.

Poetry: Book Number Two

51JUXoillXLHey y’all. Hope everyone is doing well… and if not, I truly hope that things pick up for you soon.

Now, I told you I am getting some final edits done on my novel. In the meantime, I have written a new book of poetry that will drop on March 27, 2018. Yes! Very exciting. The 27th is my son’s 29th birthday. He is currently in jail which makes me sad. He had a pretty rough life and I hope and pray that he will see the light soon and follow a righteous path. Until then, all I can do is keep talking to him, sending him books and letting him know that he is not alone.  I won’t go into detail but he truly should not be where he is right now. I know my book titles seem sad, and I truly hope people will read the description before they think these books are pages and pages of sad, mopey, woe is me prose.

In a way I guess you could say it is, but then it really isn’t. It is a comfortable way for me to express myself and let others know that it is all going to be okay.  We have all been through our share of shit. But every day what do we do? We hide it, put on the plastic face, and tell everyone “I’m fine. Everything is fine.” Even if it is far from effing fine.

I like to help people; I always have. That’s a good thing, right? However, I suck at personal interaction with people. I always have. So, writing is my way of giving back. I have been writing since I was a kid and never thought to pursue a career with it. In my twenties, I started writing again, but me being me, lacked the oomph to go that next step. Even now, I struggle with self-promotion.

So… below is a link to my Amazon Author Page. I have one book currently for sale and the other will be ready soon. Thank you to every single one of you! I truly am grateful for your following this blog, commenting when you want to and even giving a quick like here and there. ❤
