Okay.. I have been doing well with my walking, meetings and blogging. The writing part I took someone’s advice on and decided to cut down my word count goal a few hundred. I have been doing about 150 words a day and I am not freaking out over not meeting a bigger goal.
Goals met this week:
Writing word count
Walking meditation in the park (I keep seeing the same deer every day!)
Goals for the coming week:
Increase to 200 words every other day.
Increase walk time to 20 minutes a day.
Ride my motorcycle to work at some point this week! It has been so hot there have been thundershower threats each day… I am not riding in the rain!
Continue to read my writing buddies blogs! Your blogs rule… I learn so much from reading them!
AAAAIIIIEEEEE!!!!!! OMG – life is crazy! But if it wasn’t.. it would be brutally boring! Let’s see.. my progress for this week so far has been super lame. I honestly do not know where the hours go. Honestly.
Goals achieved this week:
Commented on blogs
walked in Tyler State Park (saw the same deer family again – aww!)
Submitted blog entry for the Kawasaki Ninja.
Goals not achieved this week:
Blog entry for 80’s blog
Blog entry for Darlene Steelman blog (I don’t think this entry counts!)
1500 words on work in progress
Goals (modified) for this week:
I am going to see Poison/Motley Crue on Saturday. I will blog about that on the 80’s blog Sunday.
I am riding the motorcycle to work on Friday. I will blog about that Saturday.
1,000 words on work in progress.
Read lots of blogs (way too many to count!)
Comment on at least ten.
I wrote a super short review on her book, We Are Not Alone – The Writer’s Guide To Social Media.
The book helped me immensely! I was completely clueless when I started taking my writing seriously. I was all over the place not knowing what to write about. This blog you are reading now was actually going to be a blog filled with daily meditations, hence the url the daily woman LAME!
Anyway, I am off topic. If you really (and I mean really) want to get on a good track as far as blogging, building author platform and not being laughed out of the writing village.. then you owe it to yourself to get Kristen’s other book Are You There Blog? It’s Me Writer. I am reading it now and I am learning so much stuff to do, but more importantly, all the stuff not to do.
I know it is odd to recommend a book before even finishing reading it. But I can safely say, based on her other epically epic book that I did finish, that this one is a keeper as well. I actually just put it down a moment ago so I could let everyone know how great it is before I get caught up in something selfish.
Oh! Almost forgot.. I found Kristen Lamb right here on WordPress. So go on over and check out her WordPress blog by clicking here. She has Twitter Tuesday which is my favorite and a whole lot of other fun stuff. Yes, she gives us all crap from time to time but she makes it so darn funny that those of us who read her blog just don’t care.
Okay, so I had high hopes of bashing out goals like I bash mosquitoes, however, today was a day run rampant with chaos and I was only able to get in my walking meditation. It’s all good. If life were perfect all the time, what would we write about?
So tonight I am going to read a few blogs so I can get that under my belt. There is no time (nor energy) to do even a lick of writing or editing. It is 10 pm and I am super pooped.
My fifteen year old daughter is bee bopping in her room, hanging posters and listening to music. If only I could somehow bottle some of her energy and spike my water with it!
I did get to an AA meeting tonight. That was definitely something I needed. I don’t get to many meetings, but when I do I always come away with a feeling of contentment. I should probably revise my goal list and put “attend at least one AA meeting a week.”
Happy writing everyone – and you can only do your best… 🙂
We’ve all heard the term honesty is the best policy. Since we are tiny tots hell bent on getting our fair share of cookies and milk, we are taught to tell the truth, do the right thing… blah freaking blah.
But then one day, we are taught to fib, to lie, to bend the truth a little. We are taught that even though little Rosie is being a total selfish brat, we should smile and play along.
Ok, so which is it? And when did all this political correctness crap start anyway?
Yesterday I was driving up the street (no, not down) and this chic, probably in her early twenties, decides to start moseying across the middle of the street. Never mind there are four lanes of traffic coming at her in both directions. She didn’t dash, or jog or move in any expeditious manner. She moseyed. Strolled. Snailed along.
So there I am cruising along doing about 2 miles under the speed limit and I and three other lanes of traffic have to slow down so she can get across. In my sick, twisted mind I punch the gas for like less than a second (I know, I know, I am going to hell) and then let up.
I say to my boyfriend in the car: “Should I punch it?” As I give the car gas and then immediately let off.
My boyfriend asked me what the hell was the matter with me. Of course, I got defensive.
“ME?! What the hell is the matter with her?”
“Ok, so she gets to cross in the middle of the street basically breaking the law and if I hit her for whatever reason, I am the guilty one because I didn’t have control of my vehicle. Never mind the fact that she SHOULD. NOT. BE. IN. THE. MIDDLE OF THE STREET!!” Yeah, I over-reacted … a lot.
It felt good to freak out, and I would never run someone over with my car. I have certainly made a metal note to keep some thoughts to myself. Because, believe it or not, sometimes honesty is not the best policy.
Maybe being politically correct does have some benefits, after all.
So, sorry lady for trying to scare the begeebees out of you. On a “could have been worse” note, I could have been flying down the road yapping on my cellphone and not even seen you.
Is there anything that really gets under your skin that, looking back, you over-reacted to?
